2026 Payment & Cancellation Policy Update

As we head into our 11th season, it’s time for a refresh of our registration & cancellation policies. Here’s the TLDR:

  • Payments are due at the time of registration.

  • Registration is non-refundable and non-transferrable.

  • Events will open for sign ups closer to the event (usually 5 weeks out) to help competitors confidently register, knowing their plans and if their car is ready to race.

You can read the full cancellation policy here.

If you’re curious about why we’re updating the policies, keep reading.

These changes are born out of a pretty incredible problem - all of our 2025 events sold out in mere minutes, sometimes seconds 😮

For experienced competitors, this is no biggie. You set a reminder, sign up and hold your spot. Easy peasy, right? But for the new folks, this was intimidating, frustrating and caused quite a few people to stop trying to race. We got quite a few (justifiably) angry emails letting us know.

And we get it. That was a pretty terrible experience. It was tough to know if a spot would open up for you and making plans for something you weren’t sure was going to happen was impossible.

We saw another huge number in 2025 - last minute cancellations. Our forgiving payment and cancellation policies made it possible for folks to snag a spot, hold onto it for months and cancel at the last minute without penalty. In a world where there are as many people on the waitlist as there are registered, that’s a huge bummer.

Our goal has always been to remove barriers to getting into racing and if signing up is impossible, you’re likely never going to start. We feel confident that these changes will reduce the number of people who were signing up without committing to racing, taking a spot from someone who really wanted to race.

Since this change has a financial impact on competitors, we also changed when registration opens. Going forward, registration will open 5 weeks before the event (instead of the previous 12 weeks). Registration will be open for 4 weeks, closing one week prior to the race. Competitors should be able to plan for the time away and know that their car will be ready with that shorter window.

And look… we know everyone is human, with real life commitments and challenges. So all competitors will get ONE exception where, as long as the guidelines and instructions in the cancellation policy are followed, we will credit the registration fees to your account to use on a future event.

If you stuck around this long, thanks! We don’t take these changes lightly and appreciate you taking the time to read. Now head to the event calendar, jot down the registration opening dates and set some reminders.
